Want to explore v-coaching?
A v-coach (virtual coach) is a caring and professional adult who uses online communication technologies to provide remote support and encouragement to another adult who is on a path to professional career development. The North Penn Works program engages v-coaches to provide support to minorities and immigrants who are a part of the program.
The primary responsibility of the v-coach is to support and encourage the aspiring minority/immigrant IT professionals throughout the program.
You will need to do the following:
Complete the application form and participate in a one-hour training session prior to being connected with an IT candidate.
Conduct an initial meetup with the assigned candidate to establish meeting times/frequency, etc.
Connect professionally with the candidate at predetermined intervals via predetermined communications channels.
Focus conversations on overall progress in the IT course(s) and help the candidate to establish SMART goals so they can successfully complete the training.
Encourage the use of professional soft skills during the training period and beyond.
Provide support and encouragement, not advice and counseling.
Keep a brief record of the outcome of each meetup.
Contact the program director immediately if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a large and positive impact on one of our minority or immigrant IT candidates in the North Penn community.
